Is it really FREE?
Yes, 100% FREE! No catch, no hidden costs, no sneaky underhand tactics and no compulsory future financial commitment.
Am I eligible for a free website?
We offer free website design to not-for-profit organisations and community groups. This could be a local charity, a religious organisation, a Sunday morning football team, a reading group, a not-for-profit event or anything else that meets this basic criteria. Commercial businesses are not eligible for our free website design service but should instead refer to our affordable £150 website design package. Ultimately our decision is final and only we can determine whether you will be eligible or not. If you are unsure whether you qualify I would recommend that you contact us today using the form provided, outlining what your organisation is about. We can then assess your request and contact you with further guidance.
What do I get?
You will get a free domain name, free web hosting, a home page, 5 additional pages, a mobile responsive design, SEO friendly content and structure, integrated social media, integrated Google Analytics and a range of other standard website features.
What will my free website look like?
Every website is different however all our websites have a few common features. Your website will have a header containing your logo and/or the name of your organisation, a navigation menu to your five additional pages, a home page, a home page image slider, side bar sections, footer sections and links to your social media accounts. Why not check out our Website Portfolio to see some examples of our work.
What can I use the five additional pages for?
You can display any information you desire on these pages. Clients will typically opt for an ‘about us’ page and a ‘contact us’ page but you could consider any of the following:
- About us
- Contact us
- Products and services
- Product reviews
- Mission, values and vision
- Strategic aims
- Image gallery
- Video gallery
- Staff profiles
- Member profiles
- Customer testimonials
Ultimately you can add any information you like to your five pages. Some clients prefer to only add three or four pages to start with and add the other pages at a later date. However you would like to manage your pages is up to you.
Where do you get the information and images for the website?
This is ‘your’ website so we believe you should provide the text and images for us to use. We are more than happy to write an ‘about us’ page for you however you will do a much better job than we will as you know more about yourself and your organisation than we do. Similarly, if you have logos, photos and promotional images we can incorporate them into your website. If you do not have any images or would prefer us to create the text for your website we can do so but it is preferred that you contribute this information as we feel it will improve the overall quality and appearance of your website.
Do I get an email associated with my website?
The free service does not include a bespoke email address and if you require this service you are advised to refer to the £150 Business Website offer. If you have an existing email address we will be able to link to your contact forms and any other contact information incorporated into the website, we just can’t create you a new one linked to your domain.
Can I make regular changes to my website?
We will set you up so that you have access to the back-end of your website. You can use the back-end to edit pages, images and blog posts as well as a range of other website features. This gives you complete control over your own website and you are not reliant on us to perform additional work at a cost. We believe this is the fairest way to do business. However, we are obviously willing to work with out clients over the long-term and offer free small-scale revisions and edits if you are not able to perform them yourself. But, please be aware that this is a free service so complete redesigns and large scale changes will not be possible for free. If large scale changes or additions are required please refer to our Website Add-Ons section.
Can I add additional features such as extra pages or image galleries?
You can add a range of additional features to your website yourself using your back-end access. However, if you would like us to complete the work for you this unfortunately does not form part of the free website design package. We offer a variety of ‘Website Add-Ons’, and to ensure we maintain our simple pricing structure, all Website Add-Ons cost £50. These Add-Ons include additional features such as extra pages, events pages, galleries, enhanced social media, testimonials and much more. For example, if you requested a free website with extra pages, you would get the website for free and pay £50 for the extra pages as a ‘Website Add-On’. Check out or Website Add-Ons section for more details.
Is it a case of “you get what you pay for”?
No, although our free website design package limits you to 5 pages every other aspect of the website will be identical to our £150 business website design package. There is no difference is quality – only price!
Are there any annual renewal fees?
There is a non-compulsory annual renewal fee of £50. This cost covers renewal for your domain name and web hosting for another year. This is not a hidden cost and we will explain this to you before any work begins. As this is non-compulsory if you no longer wish to maintain your website you will not be required to pay us a penny!
How does the annual renewal process work?
We will contact you two months before your domain name and web hosting is due for renewal. If you would like to maintain your website for another year all you need to do is let us know and make a payment of £50 to Happy Little Websites. However, this is non-compulsory so if after the first year you decide you no longer wish to maintain your website all you have to do is let us know and we will leave your renewal to expire. Please be aware that if your web hosting expires your website will no longer be visibly active and similarly your domain will expire and no longer direct people to your business or organisation. We will be happy to talk through this process with you before any work begins.
